The Redskins' defensive backs took the field against the Cleveland Browns with their hands raised — a nod to the 'Hands up, don't shoot' pose that has become a symbol of solidarity among protesters in Ferguson, Mo.

Washington Redskins players showed support for slain Missouri teen Michael Brown on Monday night by running on to the field with their hands up during the team's introductions.

Safety Brandon Meriweather led the team's defensive backs through a tunnel and onto FedEx Field with their hands raised, a nod to the "Hands up, don't shoot" pose that has become a rallying cry for protesters in Ferguson.

Brown, 18, was shot and killed on Aug. 9 by a police officer during an encounter on a street in the St. Louis suburb.

Brown was unarmed, and witnesses said he had his hands were up when Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson killed him.

After the game — in which the Redskins beat the Cleveland Browns 24-23 — members of the defensive unit acknowledged their solemn entrance was a show of solidarity for Brown and his supporters....

DeAngelo Hall (#23) helped coach my son’s baseball team this spring. he was really nice and cordial. We never saw the thug side of him, but knew it was present.

He definitely is a “Player”, if you know what I mean.

One idiot said, “That could have been me.” Only if he robbed a store and charged a cop! Is he confessing criminality?

Maybe the hands up means that they surrender in the battle to keep the Redskins’ team name.

Ask them if they want to change it, and I’ll bet they circle the wagons tighter than a hangman’s noose, for keeping their name.

Money talks, political correctness walks. Black solidarity uber alles!

Choose one cause from Column A, another from Column B.

F the NFL and their thug players. If they never play another game it won’t change my life one bit.

>>In their defense, they are earning that money with a skill they honed over many years of effort and at least they’re not on the dole.

True, but for every one of them who made it, then are tens of thousands who blew off their education and ruined their bodies trying to make it the majors. Many of those people are on the dole.

This guy was a thug and they want to treat him as a saint. The only version of what happened is that of the thugs partner in crime claiming he had his hands up. At least that is what the media is running with. If I ran this police department I would have released the picture of the officers wounds and the witness accounts of the thug charging the officer. At least get the different version of the event out instead of the Saint raising his hands saying don’t shoot....

After watching last season, I was about 100% convinced that the NFL is rigged.

Up to this point, I had supported the Redskins. Since they have moved to support the pants up, don’t poop agenda I find there is no support left. Anyone with a brain and a computer can find today more than sufficient evidence that Michael Brown was a thug, robber who initiated his own death. My solidarity seems to have gone to the police.

Oh you mean with all the Peyton Manning love affair?

I wasn’t watching, but the few times I did all I heard was a love fest for this guy. I think Peyton is a classy guy, but enough with all the worship and love. It’s nauseating.

I think the NFL has a vested interest in making sure certain teams are always there. It seemed like the Patriots always got a pass interference call late in games, that allowed them to win close games. They aren’t the only ones. However, I think the NFL makes sure the officials try to change the outcome of the game. Some teams always get the good side of horrible calls.

BTW. The super bowl was the worst one I ever seen. In addition, with the Broncos down so much, I kept thinking that Peyton was going to make another magical comeback, but they were still running the ball a lot and throwing short routes in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Their record the past 5 years 28 wins 52 losses. I challenge your assumption that they are earning their money!

Was it definitely determined that he had his hands up and was surrendering? Who made this claim?
