The premise of the article is false. There could be an adaptive purpose to homosexuality which escapes the author. Just because the author states otherwise doesn’t make it true. In any case, it is testable, when more people have the entire genome sequenced. There may be, or there may not be, one or more genes for homosexuality. Time will tell. This author is not the final arbiter. A suicide gene has been identified. How come that hasn’t died out?

The man was earlier this year sentenced for two years of prison connected with a drug case earlier this year, said TV2. The trip to Turkey took place while he was waiting to serve his prison term.

I personally do not believe there is a homosexuality gene but the author’s science is flawed.

The home gene may require that the gene be carried on both the mother and the father’s genes for it to be expressed. This would mean that a man carrying the gene but not expressing the gene (not being homosexual) could pass it on to his offspring

Also there are many genes that we all carry that are not expressed unless some outside stimulus activates the gene. One theory on homosexuality is that the amount of male hormone in the mother’s blood at a specific point in the pregnancy alters the fetal brain in such as to cause homosexuality.

Regardless of what is the causation of homosexuality the science of the article is flawed.

Please explain the adaptive purpose that would typically necessitate the cessation of your genetic line?

Actually, I’ve hypothesized previously that a genetic defect of this variety would be natures response to “cull the herd” and basically reduce the numbers of the species with such a genetic anomaly.

The premise of this article isn’t necessarily false, but simply fails to expand upon the possible reasons on why such a genetic defect would manifest itself if it exists, IMO.

A suicide gene has been identified. How come that hasn’t died out?

Because suicidal tendency doesn't prohibit reproduction prior to the act?

First I've heard of a suicide gene, by the way. When did that come out?

A “suicide” gene does not prevent procreation with the opposite sex - genius.

By your asinine response, my guess is that you desperately want to avoid taking responsibility for your choices in life.

There is the possibility that pure homosexuality as a brain disorder is more common today than 50 years ago as a result of hormonal contraception.
Then again, we may see more of it because of simple tolerance of it. A hundred years ago, a man with mild homosexual impulses would bury the impulses and become a wonderfully sensitive husband. (Dennis Prager has discussed several times on his show how the rise of homosexuality contributes to the lack of good men as husbands, even if it is just taking 1% of the guys off the market). Now he “comes out of the closet” at 16 and has a series of homosexual liaisons.
Whether we have more tolerance because the incidence is higher or a higher incidence because it is more tolerated, I don’t know.

Exactly, a weak point on the authors part.

I would like to see the source for suicide gene.

Anyways, same-gender attraction doesn’t seem to have a single cause for all cases. As shown by twin studies there’s more than pure genetics involved. Inclination doesn’t excuse action either.
