I replayed that segment several times just to make sure that I heard it right. It was the highlight of the speech for me.
But I don't agree that Obama was making claims about the peaceful nature of Islam as an outsider. He was protecting his own faith. He was defending it. He does not want us to believe that ISIS is the face of Islam. But it is.
ISIS is Sunni. Obama is a Sunni Muslim. He won't tell us that. But his actions speak much louder than his words.
I don’t think Obama is a Muslim. He’s a leftist agnostic, which is part of the reason why he doesn’t understand why Muslims might kill for their faith. There’s nothing about Obama’s life that suggests he’s secretly a Muslim. The reason why he comes off as pro-Muslim at time is because he was raised as an anti-imperialist. Thus he supports Muslims overthrowing their imperialist overlords, particularly the British. He’s cool relationship with Britain suggests his anti-imperialist attitude.
