Getting into the military is actually pretty hard these days. They look for reasons to get people out. They don't take losers who have no other options -- if you manage to get in, it's because you're good enough to succeed without getting in.

This guy is looking at it in 1960s viewpoint, I think (which doesn't surprise me).
