It depicts Christ leaving believers with spiritual gifts, directing them to use those gifts productively as He goes out to claim the kingship over Earth's population; upon return from being rejected by those people, He expects to see productive results greater than mere disused possession of those gifts; the parable ends noting that unbelievers will be destroyed. This in no way directs us to slay unbelievers - that's God's jurisdiction.
