Deceptive title. Burke has confirmed on several occasions that he was being removed from his current position, but he has never said that the “Pope is harming the Church.” His statement was that the failure of the Pope to make any explicit clarifications does harm to the Church - which is true - but not that the Pope is harming the Church.

This misleading headline will only make Cdl Burke’s situation worse and take away from his credibility.

Pope Francis is the one who has no credibility.

FWIW, I’m as “Protestant” as they get. I’m a YOPIOS kind of love-the-Reformation Protestant.

But I really admire this Pope. Apart from the standard Roman Catholic heresies (Mary the Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix, Transubstantiation, Purgatory, Salvation by Works, etc.) this Pope’s declarations have been inspiringly poignant. If he says something that pagan newspapers damn, then I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to the pope.

….”standard Catholic heresies”? Where did you get that rot from? Oh, I got it, from the heresy” that there is no Petrine authority, and instead every brand of Protestantism is “a” truth!

So, if he is doing great harm what do you do now....continue to follow into that harm or make a stand for God? Gee, at what point does the church not represent the Word and you walk or is the church more important that the Word and you stay?

Seems to me others in the past have had to make that same exact choice.....what is more important following God or following the "church". ( Notice, before you start screaming at me, I am not telling anybody what to chose, that is your walk)

From Scripture.

Yes, I am a YOPIOS, I-trust-Scripture kinda person.

And you? You trust the denomination that gave us indulgences and self-flagellation and Mary-worship? Gotcha.

It’s a new world, Steelfish. We don’t need pedophile priests to tell us what to believe. We can look directly into the Word of God, in our own language.

You really, really believe that Mary was born sinless, and that she floated off into space and that if you drop enough dollars into the offering basket you can skip Purgatory and jump right into heaven? Gotcha. You believe that and how many other unbiblical concepts? Why not join me in trusting the infallible Scriptures, rather than the teachings of pedophile indulgence-seekers?

That said, this current pope is doing and saying a lot of admirable things. Maybe imitate him, rather than being an anti-Christian jerk?

This is both simplistic and shallow. Ignore Petrine authority and find yourself in a mudslide of different and contradictory truths from the fortune-cookie feel good rot from the Joel Osteens to the homicidal preachings of Jim Jones and David Koresh to the vapid Bible thumping orations of the Billy Grahams.

Is this a great country or what? Freedom of religion allows us to chose which cult we wish to support with tax deductible dollars. We have great choices such as the Roman cult of the pointy hat, the snake handlers talking in tongues and even the get on your knees five times a day and smell your neighbors butt as you face the big black rock cults.

But there is no freedom to think that one could believe in any number of “Truths.” Deny Petrine authority and find yourself buried in a mudslide of various “truths” from snake handers to Osteens, to Rev. Wrights.

RI Bishop: Synod Process is ‘Rather Protestant’
Crux ^ | 10/21/14 | Michael O’Loughlin

http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2014/10/21/ri-bishop-synod-process-is-rather-protestant/

“Pope Francis is fond of ‘creating a mess.’ Mission accomplished,” Bishop Thomas Tobin said.

He argued against what he called the pope’s suggestion that the Church “accommodate the needs of the age.” If that happens, he wrote, “the Church risks the danger of losing its courageous, counter-cultural, prophetic voice, a voice that the world needs to hear.”

When H.H. Pope Paul VI saw how Vatican II was separated from its original intend, with heartbroken words said: “It seems like smoke from Hell penetrated through the windows of the Vatican.”

It seems that now the smoke from Hell entered the Church embraced to the “liberation theology.”

“... the vapid Bible thumping orations of the Billy Grahams.”

Right.

Do you not personally interpret Scripture throughout the day? Do you not find yourself reflecting on Scripture, and how it might apply to a particular circumstance in which you find yourself? Isn’t it good for us to personally wrestle with the words Jesus spoke and the accounts recounted about his life?

Of course to all your questions. But for us Catholics belief in the Eucharist and the Mass is the source and summit of all our worship.

And for us Christ-followers, Christ Himself is the source and summit of all our worship.

Yes, I know, you believe that some flour and fermented grape juice are literally/really/truly/transubstantiationally Jesus. Of course, in your heart you don’t really believe you’re munching on Jesus’ skin when you eat the “bread” (to use the term used in Scripture) ...

Let me call you to trust in Jesus. Not in loaf and drink.
