Though it hasnt been well-publicized, Walgreens has been donating a substantial amount of money to the LGBT movement. In 2006, the drugstore was a Platinum-Level sponsor of the Chicago Gay Games, which are also know as the Gay Olympics. The event touts itself as the worlds largest sporting and cultural event organized by, and specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT).
The Wikipedia description of the Gay Games reveals that they were started in 1982 in San Francisco, CA, and are held every four years. Unlike the real Olympics, there are no qualifying requirements to compete, so literally anyone with limited athletic ability can participate. Queers flock from around the world to the Gay Games, which are complete with an opening ceremony and torch lighting.

"The Human Rights Campaign thanked "a group of dedicated HRC Partners", including Home Depot, for providing the resources necessary to help pass the New York State gay marriage bill. The Home Depot says on its web site that they are "honored to say we support" HRC and other LGBT advocacy groups."
Considering that Walgreens profits from the diseases caused by this kind of behavior, why shouldn’t they support it? It’s just good business.
Barf alert!
Bttt
Good business call.
Gays die 7 to 11 years earlier and are far more unhealthy. So they buy a lot of prescription drugs.
I’d prefer we skip links from that Mr. Conservative site. They are often completely wrong and almost always overblowing things. The site is totally unreliable.
If you avoid everything that’s “off limits” to FReepers, life becomes pretty narrow. Of course you’ll need to post to FR with a Linux machine.
True. But if I have a viable alternative to the sodomy sponsors, I’ll go with that.
I tend to admire the Russian approach
50 to 100 year from now I hate to think which society is likely to be in tact .
Is there a comprehensive list of gay proud companies somewhere , so that supporters can make informed choices about what to buy and where to shop? (wink, wink)
At this point, unless you are tarzan out in the wilderness or some supergenius ocd freak with magical access to all the data and willing to go through a lot of trouble every day of your life it is probably impossible to live without somehow supporting a company here or there who promotes homosexual activism.
Funny thing is you can just realize that the vast majority don’t give a fig about anything except their bottom line and are just bandwagon jumping. If the popular movement was to outlaw homosexuality they’d be onboard too. Its just the way the tide has gone.
How do they prove that they’re gay?
Hey from what they say, Linux ain’t all bad. I’m sure somebody will buy your MS or Apple discards.
I’ve never liked Walgreens and CVS is just across the street. Sayonara Walgreens!
:)
CVS discontinued tobacco sales—a $2 billion item—to curry favor (IMHO) with the government, their biggest customer on the pharmacy benefits side of the business.
Now Walgreens is going them one better in the PC department—at least with this administration in charge. Maybe a little homo friendliness will grease the skids of approval for the temporarily stalled inversion they had contemplated with Alliance Boots.
Isn’t CVS in bed with Obama? I have a vague recollection of such.
