The delphi technique meets Alinsky.
These people are dangerous.
Bernays was a bit before Delphi, I always thought that Delphi came out of Alinsky.
But in any case, combining the techniques of Bernays with Delphi and the outlook of Alinsky, applied by a totally compliant media machine, means that you can get a significant number of people to go along with you for as long as it takes.
Obama’s first campaign is a good example. He put out lots of vague terms, but each one was emotionally strong. A susceptible person hearing the flow filled in the vagueness with something they felt comfortable with, they felt good, and went along. Without the “engineering” of the message, a person would likely say, transform America into what, exactly? With engineering, the response is a mirror of the person’s internal desires.
