How much is the Uber take (percentage or flat fee?)
Just curious.

I saw a deal today where they teamed up with Spotify so the rider can have their “tunes” playing in the car...

And he said the success of Obamacare’s core goal — creating a functioning individual market for health care — is very much in sync with Uber’s vision of a liberated work force.

“The democratization of those types of benefits allow people to have more flexible ways to make a living,” Kalanick said. “They don’t have to be working for The Man.”

So nationalizing healthcare creates more healthcare options, and destroying reliable, stable jobs creates more financial opportunities.

None of his statements make even a smidgen of sense business wise or any other wise.

Have never seen the guy but I imagine a Hitler like mustache with an armband waving his Ubermachines along the highway.

I don’t think it has to be. But I won’t work for a company that doesn’t provide it as part of the compensation package.

You are correct. I knew someone from Romania. She said health care was free, but you had to pay bribes to actually get a doctor to look at you.

Kalanick didn’t comment on the specifics of the health care policy,

...

Of course not. Why ruin a good story?

They’re not stupid. He likes it because he is NOT paying for it. His subcontractors are, or are not depending on the subsidy they qualify for. It completely takes the problem of health insurance off his shoulders. Of course he likes it.

People who get benefits through their employer don’t really understand the full cost of their health care. They focus on their premiums and out of pocket but corporations subsidize much of that. The formula I used at work for “fringe benefits” is 28% of the employees salary. So for somebody making $60,000 a year, we are putting $16,800 towards their health care and that is not including the premiums and deductibles that the employee is paying. All in, the total cost of health care for a typical employee is around $2,500/mo.
