That is a good point. One must not overestimate the ability of Russia, that garbage pile of slaves and killers. But it seems to me that with near unlimited potential of subversion of our military forces by Russia thanks to likely communist agents all over our government, and their singleminded purpose to kill and loot, we should not be complacent either.

You said it very well. Russians are good at f*cing things up. Seems there is nothing else they can do. Sabotage is f*cking things up for others so I wouldn’t put it past them succeeding in that. In fact I believe Russians have been successful in several sabotaging operations.

Yet the premise JR was putting forth is that Russians have succeeded in something. That I have less faith in.

As all of us who read Playboy magazine mainly for the articles know Tom Clancy said

“The Soviet Union is a third-world country in every real sense—but a third-world country with 10,000 deliverable nuclear warheads. The country cannot feed itself. You cannot drive from one side of the country to the other on a paved road. In America, we have superhighways. Even the crummy little road that you drove down to get here for this interview is better than any rural highway in the Soviet Union.”

and later

“Well, we know it would be in their self-interest to feed themselves, but they have designed a system that won’t allow them to. Despite glasnost, the Soviet system lies to itself in all fields, in all categories.”

This all was very well said. Soviet collapse was clear to a civilian Mr. Clancy while the suites in Pentagon were still in awe of supposed Soviet immense power.
