SONY Hack: Sorry, but not buying the NORK angle
self | J. Johnson

Okay, not wearing a conspiracy hat here. But I’m simply not buying that the North Koreans were behind the hack of the decade. And no, I’m not blaming the U.S. Government, either (accept maybe for their own incompetence). Everything I’m seeing points to this hack as an ‘inside job’.

Full disclosure: Yes, I’m in a software developer and system admin - and in the media business. And we all know the key groups of hackers – white hats and black hats. This hack goes beyond that. This is clearly a malicious intent to do economic and social damage a major company. As most law enforcement will tell you on average 80 percent of all corporate break ins are ‘inside jobs’. Same goes for hacking. It’s not just about getting one password, breaking in, and having fun. In the case of SONY, these hackers HAD to know what they were looking for, and where to go find it. And from all reports, it took multiple passwords to do it. The LA Times talked to a few experts about this.

So, are we to believe that a leader is so insane that he orders his best people to hack a company’s servers and threating them by merely releasing emails, movie trailers and personal info?

My suspicions come from the information that has been release already. If some of the information released in the emails were in the hands of a government entity who wanted to do damage, there was enough to target individuals in any manner they saw fit (including physically), and still maintain plausible deniability. Even more, some of the information release could have been used to probe more into entities not related to SONY. There seems to be no one in control of what is being released, such as the internal SONY security review.

If I’m a government, with hackers this good, I go for bigger targets – such as power and defense, and communication grids.

For a top-notch hacker, coming in through a foreign server is not difficult. If fact, from all reports this hacker(s), was not very good at covering their tracks. From what I’ve seen, SONY should be asking themselves: “Who did we piss off in our company that had access to our systems?”

Just my thoughts, J. Johnson.

Who was reading Fox News' James Rosen's Emails and listening in on his phone calls in an attempt to find out WHO inside the gov't he was getting his information from?? Maybe Eric Holder knows??? Were they spying on Sony for the same reason and got 'found out' then deflected blame on NK??? Unlikely but possible, I suppose.

Would be funny if the actual hacker surfaced publicly and he has nothing to do with North Korea. This would make our FBI look like a joke since they tagged NK as responsible for the hacking..

The whole evil skeleton and flaming skull stuff seems rather out-there and teenage. Its very incongruous if perpetrated by professional, government employed North Korean security services

Yeah, I believe NK did it because Lil’ Kim is as big a narcissist as our current President and this was his way of throwing a tantrum about the movie.

I believe Sony has already stated there was inside help.

Now any and all extortionists can cover their tracks by insinuating that North Korea is behind the cyber attack.

Consider: "Your company has insulted The Dear Leader of North Korea and his People. Now deposit five million dollars into this account and we won't release all of the embarrassing emails we have down loaded from your servers and send commando squads to your cities to shoot up the streets."

Yeah, I can see this happening now.

You just never know with the cultural business and "artiste" "elite".

Somebody/friend of somebody, didn't get a role/credit/drugs/whatever, and really boiled the bunny for Sony's managers and casting couch "talent", not to mention the shareholders, etc.

Either in-house disgruntlement or NSA experimenting with Censorship.

I worked for Sony. (not the movie division) I was a remote operator, and just to get my email I had to log in using a VPN and a password generator key along with my own password which required updating every 60 days. Each website behind the firewall had its own login/password. It wasn’t easy to get in even if you were authorized.

Yeah, I am skeptical about all of this. Hard to believe NK is that sophisticated or could hire an outsider without leaving a paper trail.

This is all too good. Maybe it’s the tinfoil talking, but I foresee tighter government “security” for us. And maybe a nice little war for the neocons.
