The cheaper gas will provide some price relief as lower transportation costs work their way through the economy. Unfortunately, low gas prices will not last. An excuse will be found to raise gas prices astronomically in the near future.
Doubtful prices will come down. They know people will pay the already inflated food and consumer prices so they'll keep them high and go higher. Example the price of beef. Prices should have gone down due to ranchers having to practically give away their herds during the drought but prices increased. Prices rose, as they should, while ranchers were restocking after the drought. Now that herds are back where they were before the drought, prices are skyrocketing.
