ALL NFL owners raised money for Komen. That’s why they go pink in October. And actually the league joined in the pink thing because Favre’s wife got diagnosed with breast cancer, and he was still a Packer then. So heck yeah the Pack is involved in the effort.

They have a name for these people: “sore losers.”

If it were my team I might feel the same as far as disappointment goes. But once reading the rule I would accept it.

Disclaimer: I am not a Cowgirls fan and never have been. I toured their stadium last time I was in Dallas and it was a great tour. But I do not like the team.

I am a Packer fan throughout, born in Langlade County Wisconsin, High school in Waukesha, own property there, Family there....green and gold blood in my veins.......but that call of an incomplete pass was BY FAR, the worst that i have ever seen in the NFL. The only thing that the receiver didn’t do with that ball was put it in his trunk as a souvenier ....I love winning and the Pack might well have done so. The election of the 1 point conversion SUCKED and the asinine call on that pass play was the ultimate.....I Love the victory, but not by a B.S. Call.

Thanks for that information. I didn't know that all of the NFL was supporting the abortion industry. Because of your most informative post, I have just turned off the Colts-Broncos game and will not watch the NFL henceforth until and unless they no longer provide funding for child murdering.

Much appreciated and I apologize for my ignorance. I honestly thought Jerry Jones was singular in his evil support for baby killing. Once again, this proves that Free Republic is foremost when it comes to factual information and true Conservative Activism.

Well, that depends on what transpires after he catches the ball. How long after the catch does that apply? At some point, does the receiver not become a runner?

“in the act” was already OVER. He already caught it.

If the receiver falls after the catch, he must hold on to the ball after hitting the ground or it is an incompletion.

Watch the video looping in post #39. He fell immediately after the catch.

You’re right, I misspoke about the endzone.....what I meant to say is had a running back taken a hand off and crossed the plane of the endzone then lost the ball hitting the ground - touchdown.

Had Dez taken a pitch out and run three steps, then the ball would not be a fumble because the ground can’t cause a fumble.

But I’m gonna kick your ass on the rules in this respect: it’s a STUPID RULE written by people who must have never caught a ball in their life. Dez caught the ball, took three steps, hit the ground....the ball came out AFTER knees were down and AFTER elbow hit. Period.

Now by the rule is it the right call? Maybe. But what’s NOT a maybe is that its a stupid friggin rule and so unneccessary.

This is the official rule on receptions in the NFL:
“If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass

The photo is “long” after the fact-act. Which is why the over-rule was GEEK.

Don’t confuse the Dallas honks with the rule, they have to feel like they were robbed. Anyone who knows the rule saw it wasn’t a catch before the replay.

Go Ducks

Here’s a link to page with the play in slow mo:

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/headlines/20150111-was-it-a-catch-controversial-dez-bryant-play-reversed.ece

After watching it again, I can’t actually see his knee hit the ground before the ball does. It looks like it does, but looking at it closer perhaps it does not, and maybe the ball and the knee hit the ground at the same time.

But also, being able to see it in slow mo also shows me he wasn’t actually running with it.

It looks like he got one step at best before he started to fall.

So now I would have to say that i wasn’t looking at a reception and a run, but just a reception, so I htink I have to reverse myself and say it was the right call after all.

Yep, I agree with the call now.

Got to see it in slo mo, I think the refs got it right.

Watching the slo mo of the catch on this page shows me that it was not a reception and also not a reception followed by a run after all.

Refs got it right IMO.
