Arguing with them (on the street) is a losing proposition.

"Yes officer, that is my legally acquired and owned firearm. I use it only for all lawful purposes. Here is my ID, and a business card to my attorney. Any further questions you may have, I will answer only with him/her present".

You are absolutely correct. That response guarantees that the argument will NOT be made on the street, but in the interview room at the station house. After your attorney gets there. That plays hell with schedules.
As I implied, I not want to argue ON THE STREET with a biased LEO over something as trivial as a threaded barrel .
