Very good story via Carl.
To sum up: Obama intended to quietly snub Rivlin, but when the Boehner/Bibi invite popped up, Obama tried to lure Rivlin to spite Bibi. Rivlin wouldn’t bite.
Obama’s snub is for Israel and not just for Netanyahu, and Rivlin knows it.

In other words, the White House wasn't interested in a meeting until it became a useful tool to 'get' Netanyahu. Rivlin didn't take the bait. Good for Rivlin. Good for Israel.
If Israel keeps this up every two bit American politician (like John Kerry, Clinton, Jimmah Carter etc ) will have to think twice before offering stupid condescending advice to Israel.
