When Ruby shot Oswald they say Oswald was dead before he hit the ground. Ruby targeted the upper inner thigh ... an area which is probably difficult to protect with armor without sacrificing mobility (and also an easy target).
I think i'll still be able to defend myself pretty well with that bit of knowledge.

Shown on a gurney, Oswald has a wound in the left abdomenat the bottom edge of the rib cage. The detective holding Oswald's left arm just missed getting his hand shot.
