My grandfather encountered conscripted Polish teenagers in Belgium I believe it was. They were armed but were really little more than human shields.

“...the disgraceful attachment on whatever wealth that Germany had that led to the rise of Hitler and WWII.”

Still mouthing Third Reich Propaganda, it appears.

Pretty dim, fragmented understanding of the historical record: Germans precipitate two wars of aggression inside 50 years, yet nearly three quarters of a century after their second defeat, they still play the victims. And find apologists, among the descendants of their former adversaries.

Victor Davis Hanson has written that Germany was beaten in 1918, but was not made to feel that it lost, so it was itching for a rematch less than one generation later.

It doesn’t take much effort to make the case that American dithering was a major factor in prolonging WWI and a major cause of WWII. Early intervention on the Allied side would have defeated Imperial Germany in the Great War, and a solid stance, shoulder to shoulder with the French and the Brits, would have forced the Third Reich to back down when it reoccupied the Rhineland in the 1930s.

Not as nearly as captivating, though, as staying home, while others bled and died, staying safe and comfy and pristine, debating the whichness of the wherefore, and winnowing through the finest of moral distinctions.

All chances are now irretrievably behind us, of course. But it does prompt one to wonder how things would have turned out, if all the “keep-us-out-of-war” types, and later the America Firsters, had been rounded up and shot for treason.

Don’t forget the Franco-Prussian War. Three times in less than 70 years, Germans plunged Europe into war.

Seriously though, you do believe the defeat of Nazism and the end of the Third Reich was a good thing, right? Because you didn’t make that clear yet...

I mean you’re not some crackpot sitting in his basement ‘Sieg Heiling’ an Adolf Hitler portrait are you?

Notice neither the German or the Japanese have been a problem for America since WWII.

Although that may have as much to do with the Soviet Union.

When exactly did Hitler give that warning to Poland?

Hitler was placed in power by Western elite financiers who very quietly were engineering another world war, in large part to usher in a world governance body that the US would join. Of course they succeeded in getting the United Nations in place right at the close of the war.

By some accounts, a young lawyer named Allen Dulles was at the meeting where leading German industrialists decided to back Hitler.

While that exact claim is not typically acknowledged, it is acknowledged that Dulles met Hitler as part of his duties with Sullivan and Cromwell.

Excerpt from wikipedia (more at the link)...

“During the late 1920s and early 1930s, he served as legal adviser to the delegations on arms limitation at the League of Nations. There he had the opportunity to meet with Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Maxim Litvinov, and the leaders of Britain and France.[10]”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Dulles#Early_career

Antony Sutton’s “WALL STREET AND THE RISE OF HITLER” is a place to start in understanding what is and has been going on in the world.

You can easily find the text available on line for free if you search for it.

Sutton was a fellow of Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, hardly a quack.

Here’s a video of an interview of Dr. Sutton on the topic of Hitler’s rise to power:

You made the assertion, back it up. You’ve been wrong on everything else on this thread, why would you be right about this?

Sure, there were exceptions. But it was a very small minority. Btw, if you want to bring the Kennedy family into the discussion you should mention that old Joe Kennedy was a pro Nazi.

What, exactly, is the assertion”

I’ve cited what I’ve read in many, many histories of WWII wherein references were made in respect to the use of firebombs.

Do you not understand what a ‘firebomb’ is?

It’s not news that to the financial world, then that the Bolsheviks were considered the biggest threat, which certainly was not an unjustified opinion. They were naive about Hitler, but saw in him someone who would serve as a bulwark against Bolshevism. They made a deal with the devil.

What, exactly, is the assertion”

This from #25

In August of 1940, two aircraft were seperated from their formation and wound up lost while evading fighters over England. They jettisoned a negligible amount of bombs over London resulting in little damage.

Do you not understand what a ‘firebomb’ is?

I'm familiar with the term. What I am questioning is the above assertion, and the one made in #74 that the UK originated the targeting of 'civilian centers'. Warsaw predates UK bombing of Germany. Or don't the Poles count?

We were addressing the use of ‘firebombs’ utilized by the two powers against each other.

The very first firebomb was dropped by the UK on the German port city of Emden in early 1941.

The reason I didn’t mention Poland was that the original discussion was regarding the UK and Germany.

Let’s go do something else. I’m getting as bored as I got during this morning’s homily.

The statistics you use are all well and good, but the fact remains that targeting civilian centers was originated by the UK.

Actually, it was originated by the Germans in World War I.

Well truth is a casualty in both of the endeavors with you.

The reason I didn’t mention Poland was that the original discussion was regarding the UK and Germany.

And here I thought it was just part of your attempt at UK/Nazi moral equivalency.

The very first firebomb was dropped by the UK on the German port city of Emden in early 1941.

So? Are firebombs evil in some way? They are a great weapon against targets vulnerable to their effects.

Correct in that the Kreigsmarine, Luftwaffe, and Wehrmacht followed the rules. The Waffen SS was responsible for the lion's share of atrocities committed on the Western Front. In many instances, the allied troops shot them down when they tried surrendering due to instances like Malmedy. Again, the SS set the terms under which they fought their war. If you are known for murdering prisoners, don't ask your opponents for mercy — they will give you the same kind of “mercy” you showed others.
