When I’m done, I want my bill and hate to wait for it. I’ve now been to a few places that have wait staff, but have payment kiosks right on the table.
I want the check quickly too, but I don’t assume everything is about me or even about my skin color. A delay might be because the waiter thinks we are still talking and is giving us space, because he thinks another customer is in a hurry (or knows that because the other customer is a regular), because they need the other table for a party of a particular size, or for any of a number of other reasons.
I do cut my tip if the wait is too long, but to go to zero over that part of the meal only is a sign of a cheapskate, not someone responsible. I also often tip 20% to 25% for excellent service, which happens quite often.
