Yet another stupid minority trick.
Just because someone came in a restaurant after you does not mean they can’t finish their meal first, get their bill, pay their bill and leave before you.
Correct-waiting tables in restaurants and night clubs paid most of my way through college-and no matter what order they came in, if you don’t take care of the check right away when the people at that table are obviously done and want to be on their way, you are likely going to either get stiffed or complained about, and neither is desirable. Sounds like those people were either what we used to call “campers”, or had no intention of tipping in the first place-with that attitude, maybe they should stick with McDonalds for dinner out...
Funny but I never even keep track of who comes in when and I definitely don’t notice whose table gets cleaned first.
Or, more obvious, the other couple ‘asked’ for their check first (they amended by inserting ‘first’). No complaining about that in the note.

In fact, my wife and I did just that a few weeks ago. Got seated, noticed a table of people across from us already starting their salads, got our order taken by server, got it, ate it, got the bill, left before the table of people across from us were done. Probably happens many thousands of times every day in every city in the U.S.
