In his best-selling book Killing Kennedy, Bill OReilly tells a brief tale of an intrepid reporter himself chasing the historical truth of JFKs assassination in south Florida. But the story itself is a fiction, as OReilly reveals here in his own voice.
In the annals of the JFK assassination story, rife with CIA and FBI malfeasance, OReillys fanciful anecdote might seem trivial. It is not the saddest feature of a book that manages to ignore all of the high-quality JFK assassination scholarship of the last two decades.
But as OReillys yarn is presented as fact in USA Today and the Fort-Worth Telegram; as his book dominates the best-seller charts; and as a credulous National Geographic embarks on making a documentary of Killing Kennedy, OReillys credibility matters.
In OReillys account, the dramatic incident happened on March 29, 1977. The Fox News talk show host was then a 28-year-old television reporter in Dallas seeking to make a name for himself by investigating a popular subject that media elites habitually disdained: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

I hate liars and phonies regardless of what their politics are, they more that get exposed, the better.
Payback to the country for the Brian Williams embarrassment.
Out to show that “everybody does it”.
Well, is it not pretty much the truth?
I am keeping my mouth shut and LMAO!!! The Obamabots have joined Obama in the insanity, called the Democrat Party!!!
Well I hope not. If the koolaid is watching O’Reilly then I’m safe.
You’d be surprised how many do think O’Reilly is some kind of spokesperson for conservatives, and O’Reilly himself enjoys the benefit from this distortion of reality.
My only point was it’s good that O’Reilly could be exposed for his dishonesty, because he serves plenty of koolaid with each show. My guess is many of them are liberal men who need to feel like they have some sort of remedy for the emasculation that comes with being a democrat.
Now there is a straw man. Can you name any conservatives (even one) that think O'Reilly is conservative?
He’s an idiot. This is not surprising.
Extreme case of Rosemary’s baby? I’d be hard-pressed to prove otherwise, given the product.
The biggest problem with O’Reilly is the way he pretends to be some sort of objective alternative to “the left” and “the right.”
What to say? O’Reilly’s a blowhard but he’s our blowhard?
Not me. Let the chips fall wherever with him as far as I’m concerned.
O’Reilly pretends to be objective, and he carries a sort of tough guy swagger who isn’t afraid to stand up to fraud. What a complete lie, and what a coward.
What Giuliani did the other day is what O’Reilly should have done in 2008. I remember he had some sort or major interview with Obama around that time, and completely failed to bring up the important questions. Like why do you seem to love communism, Obama?
Bill O’Really is playing baseball with a loofa.. and a straw..
I have mixed feeling about Bill O and don’t really care one way or another about the accuracy of his books. But I have a hard time taking anything seriously that comes from the cooky conspiracy theorists or their websites. Most of the conspiracy crap originated among lefties who just never wanted to admit that their hero got clipped by one of their own.
The left is always accusing Fox personalities of lying.
Did you listen to the tapes?
What gripes me most of all is when he pretends to be a spokesman for Catholicism.
Good Catholic men don’t go chasing around the help with loofahs and whatever.
They don’t threaten the separated wife’s new boyfriend and use their connections to get him fired.
They don’t use their wealth for bribing church officials to give them an annulment.
Bill O’Reilly’s words and actions, as revealed in this court document, are disgusting and revolting.
How can any of those FOX women sit opposite him smiling and laughing on his program, while knowing what a perverted lecher he is!
O’Reilly and has lied, and lied, and lied about “Obama.” He has claimed that his staff looked into the “birth certificate” “thoroughly.”
BOR has never answered ANY real questions about the “birth certificate.”
NO knowledge of computers or software is needed to raise questions. Example: NO ONE has ever offered an explanation for why the “birth certificate” carries the typefaces of six different typewriters.
He messed up - nothing like the prolific lies of most of the journalists from all the really Left-Wing orgs, but they need a diversion and he makes a good target because he works for Fox.
“I was in the streets with my camera crews,” O’Reilly recalled, “violence was horrific, as Argentine soldiers fired into the crowds, who were responding with violent acts of their own.”
“I never said I was on the Falkland islands, as Corn purports, I said I covered the Falklands war, which I did.”
