Oh yes, the “gun culture” is to blame for all the black deaths in America.
Get real!

Ive always been telling my sons, We have to separate fault from responsibility, he said. Then Will Smith is comfortable misleading his sons.
What an illiterate, idiotic distinction to make.

Will Smith is also addressing the way Americas overall obsession with gun culture is leading to many early deaths in the Black community. The problem is not 'America's overall obsession with gun culture".
The problem is violent crime in the black community. Violence that is glamorized by million dollar moguls in the rap music industry. Rap 'stars' boasting (sometimes fraudulently) about the number of times they 'got shot' and 'have been locked up'.

Its been rough for me trying to find my position in the struggle and where my voice is needed and helpful, he told Esquire. You know, I grew up in Philadelphia, and Philadelphia has a really rough police-brutality history. I grew up in a neighborhood where it was very clear that the police were them and we were us.
The city is worse now, not due to cops but ____ ____.

Ive always been telling my sons, We have to separate fault from responsibility, he said. Whose fault it is that Black men are in this situation, whose fault it is doesnt matter. Its our responsibility to make it go right. Its our responsibility. Its a lot of peoples fault, systemic racism, and its a lot of peoples fault that the Black community is in the situation that were in, but its our responsibility to clean up the mess. If there was systemic racism in America, he would not have become a top box-office star. Who's holding you back???

As an American of color myself I’m continually amazed that Black people still don’t get it. They want to blame America’s “gun” culture for their problems. Explain then why Asian Americans and second and third generation Hispanic Americans are not plagued by gun violence and problems with law enforcement. Those two groups value education and intact family units with a father and mother present in the same household. Such simple concepts but completely missing in most Black communities in this country. This isn’t rocket science. Until Blacks accept the fact they are their own worst enemies, and also their own solution to their internal problems as a people, they will continue to lag behind all Americans in overall economic and personal success and happiness.

I’ve always admired Will Smith and respected him as a natural acting and comedic talent. But I value his view on guns about as much as his opinion on quantum physics. In all probability, he knows bupkus about either.

What were really talking about in this issue is people walking around the street with guns that can make a decision whether or not theyre going to kill someone, right, he continued. And thats even more difficult, because theres really no way back from that. It's really only a big problem in democrat majority districts.
