It’s a good one, if I recall. I remember they were desperate for salt, something most in the modern West never think about.

Well, yah. Hadn't expected it to have any.    =;^)

In fact, I'd started reading 1632 despite the Sci-Fi element. It quickly resolved into a highly political story of survival...the introduction of the American Revolutionary model of government during a time when bloodlines and royalty were all that mattered.
