Roux-en-y is normally a gastric bypass procedure for weight loss. Why is it being done in this instance? Abdomonal abstruction due to inflamed/aggravated pancreas/pancreatitis. Basically, it is a palliative procedure and helps access other organs in case Whipple is unsuccessful.
