After last night’s bombshell report from the New York Times alleging that either the co-pilot or pilot had been locked out of the cockpit of Germanwings flight 4U9525 immediately prior to its crash, many on Twitter are asking about the identity and nationality of the co-pilot and pilot.
However Lufthansa, the parent company of Germanwings, won’t tell us. From the AP:
Lufthansa chief executive Carsten Spohr described the pilots as “experienced and trained” in a press conference in Barcelona Wednesday night.
Lufthansa has refused to identify the pilots, or give details of ages and nationality, but it said the co-pilot joined Germanwings in September 2013, directly after training, and had flown 630 hours.
The captain had more than 6,000 hours of flying time and been Germanwings pilot since May 2014, having previously flown for Lufthansa and Condor, Lufthansa said.
But it looks like German media sources are reporting at least the first names of the pilots:

ABSOLUTELY. I wouldn’t want to fly with ANY Muslims aboard and no one should have to. Perhaps if enough people value their lives and demand such information the airlines will get the message. The only way ANY Muslim should be aboard a plane in this country is as DEAD CARGO-and even then I’d scan the body. And what about psych checks of pilots who have so many lives in their hands? Anyone do that, or is it a ‘protect each other’ pact thing that you can be a whack-job and no one is alerted? I say there IS an Islam connection, and if there is I would hope Germany acts to purge their country of all things Islam-any way they choose to.

That’s information I didn’t know. Thanks for posting it. I was wondering why no calls were made, and this is a plausible explanation. Unfortunately, from the voice recorders, we know that the passengers probably had an idea at the last minute.
I’m still going back to the military jet sightings in the very early reports of this crash. I suppose they could certainly have responded to this in light of the fact that the plane didn’t respond to communications. Wonder if we will ever have all the info. Also curious that the pilots and crew refused to fly the next day - wonder what, if anything, they know or sense and are not allowed to answer.
But the prosecutors tell us he was not a terrorist. This they know. Repeat, he was not a terrorist.

We would have to assume the French authorities are lying about what is on the FVR.
His total stick time isn’t squat.
It’s not too far fetched ISIS will target fellow muslims. They believe certain Muslims have committed apostasy (which is a death sentence) by not following the Koran literally. Christians are supposed to be given a chance to believe their theology.

You’re special then, because the antennas I design are spread the signal mostly horizontally, not vertically. There is no reason to waste the power vertically, and every tower I’ve ever known doesn’t work that way.
