Japanese University is starting a lab to do research in cold fusion (LENR) in conjunction with Clean Planet, Inc. Two researchers left Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to start this program.

What happened to the two Italian (?) guys who said they found cold fusion already?

Recall this, from October 2014:

They’re setting a date certain for developing a technology that has never been proven and may be impossible?

Good luck with that.

Froze to death

One died (Sergio Focardi), the other, Andrea Rossi, is conducting a year-long test of the plant in the factory of a customer (unnamed).

I grant you that no one has made a commercial success of “cold fusion” — yet.

But there’s plenty of credible evidence for the reality of the underlying effect. Either you haven’t been paying attention to related threads over the past years — which have reported thousands of successful replications of Fleischmann–Pons type experiments, and the long-term success of E-Cat, including its successful independent testing last fall — or you have some reason to believe that the results are false?

Which is it?

Uhm, no. They haven’t replicated it in the P&F memorial project yet.
WW probably knows more about this since Kevmo is gone for some reason.
Wish someone else would start the cold fusion ping list again.

P&F Memorial project has not replicated it yet but Russian scientist Parkhamov has. He is more forthcoming with how he did it and is currently helping PFMP.

Thanks — Here’s a link to an English translation of his most recent report in which he tested an device based on the Rossi E-Cat:

Based on what I saw, it can’t be ascertained whether they used A/C or D/C to power the heater. Using DC means watts is simply amps times volts, no trig or power factor needed. The diagram shows an inline ammeter and a voltmeter. There are a lot of people including me that think Rossi using A/C and two phases of three phase at that means he’s either deliberately screwing with the power factor and getting an erroneous reading or he doesn’t understand A/C calculations, either way, his calculations are off.

Airbus submitted a LENR device for European patent protection, that could be interesting along with Lockheeds.

Parkhomov says he is using 50 Hz AC to power his heater.

"WW probably knows more about this since Kevmo is gone for some reason."

Kevmo got banned by getting at cross purposes with Jim Robinson over some topic totally unrelated to CF. And I just got tired of jousting with the intellectually dishonest skeptopath sorts.

Rossi sold his CF technology to a completely legitimate American firm, who are now funding commercial development, with a proto plant operating a a customers site.

There are MANY researchers besides Rossi who are revealing positive results.

I don’t believe there is a power factor correction needed for straight resistance as found in a heating element.

There are certain technologies which always seem to be "right around the corner." Cancer cures, hydrogen-power automobiles, cold fusion ...

After a while you get a feel for spotting them.

I finally have a name for this time period in history.

The fudge era.

In this case and others like it we’re and will be ruled by fudged data and numbers. We’re also ruled now by fudge packers.

I think you underestimate what has already been demonstrated, but only time will tell. The transistor principle was patented in 1925, but the first useful transistor wasn’t produced until 1947. Now you can buy a billion of them for less than a buck. The world has only begun to apply the same kind of engineering ingenuity to LENR.

We’ll see.

If it is a coil of wire, I would call that an inductor. Which means the ELI part of ELI the ICE man.
