We always had a few. Most of them stayed in the shadows.
We had one guy who was a liberal and proud; he and I often shared the Op-Ed page. We’d write opposing views on whatever issue, but he was a good guy, though wrong-headed as can be, and we’d often have lunch together on Thursday when teh paper came out to continue or debates. People liked being at that table.
