I have a Black and Decker that hangs under the cabinets and have been using it for the past 15 years with no problems. I did buy a reusable washable filter for it.

I think the secret of its long-life is that I turn it off as soon as the coffee is brewed.

Turning it off as soon as the coffee is brewed is the secret to having drinkable coffee from the same potful a couple of hours later. Of course you have to heat it up again.
