Who is your favorite rock band ever?
Posted on 05/02/2015 8:51:26 AM PDT by ilovesarah2012
I saw The Doobie Brothers and Don Felder (Eagles) last night and they still sound great.
Eagles are my all-time favorite. I never get tired of listening to them. I'm a believer in rock keeping us young!

Yeah, I'm sure it added to the energy -- and their concerts always had an amazing amount of energy. I liked them better before they went more mainstream when Peter Wolf influenced their play list to more blues. What a set of pipes he had, and he was quite the showman. Loved Magic Dick as well.
Wolf was married to Faye Dunaway back then. Loved her, too.

The Who circa 1970 were the greatest live band ever.

That song is grade school dance slow song stuff where the kids would shuffle around at arms length.

Love the Tom Johnston-era Doobie Brothers, Stampede is one of the most critically underrated albums ever, bordering at times on Southern Rock, “I Cheat the Hangman” and “Neal’s Fandango” are two of their best.
I think though the most underrated member was Tiran Porter, one of the greatest bass players in rock.

I think he’s a genius and he’s my favorite. I also like Tower of Power, but they might not even be considered a “rock” band.
But it’s hard to beat Van Morrison. I don’t even think Lennon/McCartney were better songwriters.

After reading the lists, I’d say if you have Sirius/XM radio and can get channel 312, there’s lots of great R&R and Blues that matches our market segment. It’s the Tom Petty channel, but Tom is only the DJ, playing what he likes.
