Chicago.

Not really rock but Earth Wind and Fire is another favorite.

I tend to prefer ‘70’s R&B.

Modern rappers can’t tie the shoes of the 70’s singers

So true. Even the marginal '70s talents were giants in comparison. Sam Kinison used to have a joke about the rap guys grabbing their crotches onstage because they couldn't play musical instruments and they had to do *something* up there.

My tastes have drifted away from mainstream rock and roll, towards the more blues-influenced musicians like Buddy Guy and, of course, Clapton's solo work. Mark Knopfler is another one who has expanded far beyond his Dire Straits rock catalog. Check out his concert at the Hurlingham iClub Atrium in London a few years ago (edited down to 1 hour for iConcerts).

Nice combination...Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire have toured together in the past. I saw Chicago in Virginia Beach about four years ago, and they seemed to have lost a step. Of course, it was an outdoor venue, at the end of a long tour, so the band was probably tired and the acoustics were less than optimum. They will be back in the area in early September (with Earth, Wind and Fire) and I’ll definitely be in the audience.
