“.....there was a possibility the driver may have raised the possibility there was a shot fired at the driver?”........

Any excuse is as good as another, fabricate some theory.

IIRC, reports of an object (’projectile’) hitting a train, the train, surfaced the next morning. Going on memory, my impression was that it was long enough before the derailment to conclude it played no part. I remember thinking it would not be long until we heard ‘’Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.’

I was right. Those reports were lost as soon as the dems started crying about infrastructure. Then the speed if the train hit the headlines. Ruh-Roh! There goes the dems narrative.

The reports of trains being hit by objects are in the forefront again. I don't know what to make of it. This story benefits the engineer. Draw your own conclusions.

No one is talking about the speed of the train as it took the curve. It is all about something hitting the train. My personal opinion is even though any projectile hitting a moving train is serious, it is clutter when addressing the derailment.

We are left with a tragic situation with lives lost. we are watching the truth being buried by politics and lawyers.
