There are some missing pieces here. First, Marxist have always planned to undermine the moral restraints upon which America was founded so that our freedom would become a perversion of the idea of liberty and that would be our destruction.

Next, "the Soviet Union" may not appear on a map as such, but Russia is stronger than ever and communism has been exported and advanced throughout the world and one might daresay is sprouting here.

America is far more than a "Protestant nation". If she were merely that, you'd have to look no further for your answer.

I kept looking up for the big asteroid, but we didn’t need God to smite us from outer space. The characteristics of Mystery Babylon do not fit America. She sits on many waters (peoples), she killed the prophets, she poses with the cup on the beast, she is dressed in red and purple, merchants of the earth trade in her delicacies.

Sits on many peoples: the Catholic Church covers most of the earth. America or Jerusalem do not fit

Killed the prophets: Rome. America never killed a prophet

Dressed in red and purple: the Catholic Church. Jerusalem doesn't match. Red and purple mean royalty: the pope wears the crown on occasion

Merchants trade in her delicacies: The Catholic Church is very rich, owning the great art works, etc.
