It is good news anytime Spielberg makes a new movie.
I wish he had used someone other than Hanks. When Hanks is on the screen, I do not see the character he is portraying, I just see Hanks.

So, Obama supporters Spielberg and Hanks are going to explain the Cold War era to me through the eyes of a Hard Line Leftist defense attorney?
Yeah, I'll stand in line to see that.

“It is good news anytime Spielberg makes a new movie.”
Not really. He had first shot at American Sniper and tried to liberalize it before Eastwood rescued the script from his lefty clutches. And yeah, I hate actors whose face is the same no matter what movie: Vin Diesel, the Rock etc. Then again we wish they can totally transform like Daniel Day Lewis who shows up every 4 years.

This might turn out like, "The Good Shepherd," starring Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon and DeNiro, which was supposed to be a scathing indictment of the post-WWII and cold war US intelligence community, but IMHO turned out to be a much more sympathetic portrayal of the sacrifices, risks and moral dilemmas faced by those in the OSS and early CIA..

Me, neither. As someone recently said, movies have devolved into franchises -- visual theme parks -- wherein the plots and actors are a distant second in importance. "Tomorrowland," into its third week, has grossed $141,363,000 worldwide, or, about 37% of its total production and marketing budget. But the new "Jurassic Park" movie -- the fifth or is it the sixth? -- is already expected to be highly profitable.

Years ago I read a column by Kenneth Lloyd Billingsley called "Hollywoods Missing Movies".
This piece deals with leftist Hollywood's past (and present) aversion to making movies dealing with any type of anti-communist plot-I urge anyone interested in Hollywood's sordid political past and present, to read it. It's an amazing article.

Re: “I guess you missed Band of Brothers.”
Nope.
I thought “Brothers” and “Saving Private Ryan” did an excellent job of portraying highly competent, politically neutral officers and NCO’s during combat.

Hanks will take a very noticeable piss in this movie. It’s his “trademark.” He does it in every single one of his movies.
So the question is, just what, exactly, does this represent? More to the point, who, or what, is this mega millionaire Hollywood Leftist pissing ON, over and over and over again?

“The Good Shepherd”
Thanks for the tip.
I’ve never watched it.

He’s a Type II diabetic as I am and what does that have to do with this discussion?
To: napscoordinator
First I’ll say I wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone ever. Thankfully for Mr. Hanks he can afford the absolute best care money can buy.
Having said those two things I’ll say this. Tom Hanks is a liberal anti American gun grabbing asshole that has done as much to hurt health care as anyone can with his unconditional support of other liberal anti American Gun grabbing assholes.
It will be a long time before we can measure just how bad this is going to become that is the health care system.
A close friend of mine works in the medical equipment division of GE. He explained just a few of the effects that Obamacare has had and is having on there branch. It is devastating.
Tom Hanks and everyother progressive shares in the blame.
I can’t believe the strange things that are happening in our culture today.
We run as fast as we can to support people who are trying to destroy our way of life. I long for the days of nuclear drills at school when we could define who our enemy was.
Today if we point them out we are attacked for a lack of understanding them. I geuss it will help some peoples understanding when guys like Tom Hanks with gets the best health care ever and their wife gets pain killers until she is too bad off for anything else and dies making way for the more important people like Hollywood and Washington elites.

It's a long, very long movie. Give yourself a whole afternoon or evening, lol.

I tried to watch Private Ryan (which I understand is very good), but had a hard time dealing with actor after actor who I knew were all undermining our troops in Iraq, giving their scathing leftist anti-American talking points every day when they weren't in that movie.
I turned it off, just couldn't get the image of them being traitors while acting out a patriotic role out of my mind. I've never seen it.
I loved Band of Brothers, all fresh faces who to my knowledge didn't do that leftist crap.
