For the first time ever, the Stanley Cup will be hoisted in Chicago.
In 1938, they had shipped the Cup to Toronto before Game Six, so when Chicago won, the Cup wasn’t there for them to lift, and up to tonight that was the only time they ever clinched on home ice.

Native Texan here. Love hockey. I have followed hockey for over 20 years, since the Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas. I am still in awe of the these players’ sheer physical ability to skate as fast as they do, play the game, and drop the mitts to chuck knuckles should the need arise. I would have loved to see a Stanley Cup Finals with two of the Original Six teams.

Because of bad weather in the area, Lord Stanley’s Cup was not at the arena until after the game was over. It arrived about 10-15 minutes after the end of the game.
