Cincinnati Police Officer Sonny Kim killed in Madisonville shooting

Suspect also dead, chief says.

An officer who was wounded in a shootout in Madisonville on Friday morning has died.

Chief Jeffrey Blackwell said Officer Sonny Kim, a 27-year veteran, died at UC Medical Center. CPD lost one of our best today," Blackwell said.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Roe Street and Whetsel Avenue just after 9 a.m.

Blackwell said officers had responded to a report of a man with a gun acting erratically.

At some point after officers arrived, gunfire broke out, Blackwell said. Kim and the suspect were hit.

The Community is striving very hard for peace. Black clergy praying with and counseling people, etc.

The police chaplain as well as Chief of Police are also black.

I don't know of anyone on the “Free Republic” who says they hate cops or that all cops are bad, but, there are many like me that hate bad cops and think society should remove them from their job. It is wrong for a society to be afraid of cops.

When a cop shoots a person not charged with a crime, shoots him in the back while he is un-armed, then that is a bad cop. When a cop shoots a dog that is tied up because it barked then that is a bad cop and shouldn't be in uniform. When a cop handcuffs a mans hands behind his back and handcuffs his feet together and then takes him on a rough ride in the back of a paddy wagon, so bad he dies from it then that is a bad cop.

It has nothing to do with race, it has nothing to do with being a cop it has something to do with someone having the authority of being a cop but not being able to handle it. Those people need a different job or they need to pay for their crimes.

Please be patient if I can't fix that.] The Police Chief and FOP President had press conferences today giving testimony to Officer Kim and full support to his family. They did not provide details of the tragic event. There is much information about this fine officer and father of three on the Cincinnati news webs. I hope some of you have the time to read them. From what I have gathered, although details at this time are still sparse: Officer Kim was wearing body armor. Do not know where the fatal shot struck. The perp was likely shot not by Kim, but by another responding officer. If that is true, Kim was truly innocent, and died needlessly. For some reason, the perp seemingly purposefully engaged in provocative actions in order to get a response from the cops. Upon reading his facebook posts over the past months, I have to conclude that he provoked law enforcement response, likely wanted to take a cop down, and was expecting his own probable demise . . . WHY? He was a high school graduate. He had a job. Madisonville is not a terrible neighborhood, but an up and coming neighborhood (as Ferguson also was!). WHY?!? It seems to me the perp was a pawn in the massive race-game being perpetrated on our cities by the race-baiting "ministers" and the W-House and Holder people. This perp, who had the makings of making something of himself (unlike so many others) seemingly bought into that rhetoric and was prepared to spend his own life, in order to take a cop down. The official race-baiters are not content with destroying Ferguson and Baltimore. They want to bring lawless riots to every city. They use ISIS-like propaganda and social media to "arouse" their victims to their cause -- which is chaos in American cities for political gain. If the "flash mobs" are not enough, there are paid organizers to pay rioters aka "protesters." If that is not enough, they bring in people from other cities. Thankfully, Cincinnati is not in that place at the moment. The remarkable thing this morning was the presence of black men of the cloth (NOT Shaharpeton!), going to the scene, comforting and praying with the grieving and angry. Let peace hold here, dear God! Let those who intend to cause race riots in all our cities fail and fail mightily, here and elsewhere! Please read below. This perp was not a gang drug dealer. He COULD have had a life, but seemingly bought into the racial propaganda and for reasons of his own, decided to take a cop down even if he died in the process. Look at how many lives are now lost, how many people affected, along with the threat of racial discord? Isn't that what some of those despicable "leaders" want and encourage??
