What is this author talking about? Clinton won back to back elections, and essentially so did Harry Truman, serving nearly a full term as President, and then being re-elected — FDR died about 3 months after being reelected for the 4th time. Lyndon Johnson was reelected after serving out Kennedy’s term although he elected not to run for a third term as president. Somebody needs to do some fact checking, there was nothing historic about obama’s winning a second term!

Truman won a single presidential election, not two, the Reagan supported Eisenhower defeated him when he ran for reelection.

The author may have been confused about the language that he was using, because Clinton never won 50% of the vote.
