Here's an article idea... not sure how old you are or how aware you were back then, but in the late 80's and early 90's they tried this propaganda move. In a coordinated fashion, all major newspapers wrote almost-daily anti-gun articles. The USA Today under Al Neuharth had a daily anti-gun incident in their States section, one for each of the 50 states. That was 50 anti-gun blurbs PER DAY for what, at the time, was the most widely-read newspaper in America.
Didn't work then, either.
It did work. Gun ownership is down significantly.

Still, we must not let our guard down. Never become complacent. Back in the 80s did you ever imagine that gay marriage would be legal and transgenders would be allowed in the military?
