“I believe electing a conservative would be much better option than electing a billionaire-blowhard who was all for liberal policies until he needed to be perceived as having “evolved” on those issues.”

We should elect a conservative, just like all the other conservatives we elected to Congress. We only had one vote against the Corker bill and that was Tom Cotton. So, as far as I’m concerned the rest are talk. The Iranian nuke deal is one of the most important deals that affects us for generations to come.

They slipped the Corker bill by the public with one of their song and dance routines and took away the power of the Senate to kill this treaty unless two thirds AGREED with the treaty. The Corker bill will now allow the Obama deal to pass unless some of the Dems get a conscience and I’m not holding my breath.

“...just like all the other conservatives we elected to Congress...”

I seems to me that electing decent (not perfect) conservatives is darned near impossible. And on those occasions where a decent (not perfect) conservative does manage to get elected, they are segregated to the “kiddie-table” while the GOPe (which inexplicably still enjoys voter support in GOP dominant states) runs the show and controls the legislation -and- with the help of the media, marginalizes the conservatives as much as possible.

If we want to see more “conservatives” displacing the GOPe then we have a lot of work to do. And It’s going to require folks a lot smarter than me to start “spreading the gospel” in a way that those knee-jerk GOPe voters will listen to and take to heart. And it will probably take more than a generation. What is the saying about “...society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in...”
