You are correct, but if Christians had not bought them in the first place than the sacrifice would not have be necessary. But then again a couple of hundred thousand deaths you cite actually died trying to keep those people enslaved.
Sounds like the Crusade rhetoric 0bama used.
The truth hurts no matter where it comes from.
Hope you have fun with your mussie buddies. Thanks again for playing.
You make an assumption, you know what that means. I have no mazzie buddies, never met one. Obviously, cannot handle reality. Slaves would not have been sold without buyers.
Guess who the buyers were. Reality can be painful, but it is reality after all.
Okay, you win. They were all Democrats. Your assumption is all slave owners/buyers were Christian. It is your reality that’s painful in that you can’t paint all Christians as evil. Your sympathies in the way you write are towards mussies. Have A Nice Day/Eternity.
Black Rednecks and White Liberals is a collection of six essays by Thomas Sowell. The collection, published in 2005, explores various aspects of race and culture, both in the United States and abroad.
Just finished listening to this audiobook.
You should actually read what I wrote. I never claimed all slave owners were Christian. My words were “for the most part”. Don’t ever recall a large hindu, moslem, buddist, or Shinto, population in the U.S. before the modern era. So who do you suppose bought and owned slaves in the Western Hemisphere. I never used the term “evil” in reference to Christians The fact that they owned slaves was the question at hand. Do you have any support that the majority of slave owners in the United States were not Christian. I have no sympathies towards muzzies. The Moslems may have rounded up the Africans, transported them to the African coast and sold them to the highest bidder, but if there was not a market for those slaves in the Western Hemisphere, then there would have been no slave trade to the Western Hemisphere.
But that's the point he is making... there was a buyer and a seller, and you focus entirely on the buyers, ignore the fact that most of the purchased slaves did not come here, and choose to label the purchasers as Christians rather than as Southerners, or Democrats, or anything else. You forgive and ignore the Muslim sellers (who did the real evil of stealing free people from their homes and families), and you focus on only the 3 percent of buyers who were likely majority Christian, although not acting in a very Christian manner for the most part (although many did teach slaves from the Bible). You choose to smear one small group in the trade, and ignore the vast majorities involved who are of other faiths... including faiths that openly encourage and condone the trade.

SLAVERY WAS IN AFRICA BEFORE THE WHITEMAN GOT THERE.
I had a buddy who told of sitting on an airliner while the rest of the passengers were boarding, waiting to fly out of Kinshasa, Zaire.
A black American Peace Corps volunteer, leaving after 2 years working in Zaire, stopped at the top of the boarding stairs, turned to face Zaire, shook his fist and said, "I'm so glad somebody sold my great-great-great-grand-daddy into slavery!"
I did not focus on the the buyers or the sellers. It takes a seller and a buyer. His statement was that the Muzzies captured and sold them, yet they still convert to Islam.
My point was that it was Christians that bought them and they for the most part those that surived are now Christian. I do not forgive or forget the Moslem seller. My point was in to a dumb ass statement about muzzies. He is the one that assigned a religious connotation to the slave trade discussion. No buyers, i.e. Catholics in Brazil or Guyana, Anglicans in Jamaica, or Baptists in South Carolina would have meant no slave trade to the Western Hemisphere. Would that have meant an end to Slave trade, no, I am sure the Ottoman Sultans would have been more than happy to buy them. But, in addition to those bought by the Ottoman Sultan, the rest were sold to the Christian Counties of the Western Hemisphere. Both religion have much blood on their hand when it comes to the slave trade.
You have an eye for the obvious. Slavery has existed among humans along time before the Great Pyramid at Giza was built. It predate Judaism, Christianity and Islam by several thousand years.
Worse still is Arabs consider blacks, even muslim blacks as fit only to be slaves ...
Learned that in college in the mid 60s ... Perhaps a modern education omits some things commonly taught in an earlier day?
FWIW: during the period when the Islamic Varsity ruled (622-728 AD), most slaves were sold by white European Christian and Jews as that was pretty much the only viable business at the time. Dirty little secret ...
BTW, the word “slave” comes from Slav. Slavs were considered the best servants during the Roman empire; and so the term “slave” came into being later, even though Roman slaves were more like very well treated indentured servants becoming even Roman Senators.
Obscure corners of history and all that ...
Those muslim slavers would have had competition from the Europeans, except that Europeans did not have the immunities to the local diseases and remained on their ships.
The price of a slave (at the point of origin) was put as the value of one or more guns/barrels of powder/shot. The muslim slavers then used the guns traded by the ship-bound Europeans to terrorize (wage jihad) the locals and get more slaves.
If Islam never existed, there is a very good chance that African blacks would never have been enslaved, or certainly not on the historic scale.
