What empirical evidence do you have that Rush's audience is shrinking? Some radio stations have made the mistake of canceling his show, but those people that still want to listen will just listen online or find another radio station. I am a full time instructor at a community college and cannot listen to his show if I have a class during that time, but, otherwise, I try to tune in. He talks about Trump because he is in the news! I was listening yesterday and heard the "touching bit" to which you are referring. Rush has known Trump personally for years and that anecdote was to illustrate a firsthand account that Trump does not hate or abuse women as some have claimed since the Megyn Kelly episode.

If you have listened to Rush for years as I have, you would know that he NEVER endorses any candidate during the primary and he ALWAYS supports the nominee, though that person may not have been his first choice. He shares the same disgust that all of us do with how the Republican party, despite their promises in 2012, refuse to do anything to oppose Obama, letting him continue to try to fundamentally change this country forever. The important thing for all of us is should be to defeat whomever wins the Democratic nomination!

Now if you know something different, fine. I'm glad you added what you think is the situation.

In fact, his audience doesn't have to be shrinking, he may well just see a ripe opportunity to grow his audience.

More power to him - more revenue, more minds full of mush to convert.

If he's not in the bag for his golfing buddy, then he better know when to jump ship or he'll bring us all down by his "cleverness."
