As an afterthought, recall that Adam Lanza lived with his mother. She also seemed to shelter him in inappropriate ways. Both of these moms were also not living with the son’s dad any more.

Crazy women living alone with crazy sons seems to be the common scenario here. It’s like the Bates family in Psycho. And it doesn’t seem to be some baseless stereotype.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like this will be another one of those where the reasons and explanations won’t explain much of anything except he was another mental case who should not have been living out in the world. And mothers trying to make something work that was never going to work. Any information about psychotropic drugs he might have been taking?

I just read the article in the New York Times. I think your assessment is probably correct. Lots of parrallels to Adam Lanza. It'll be interesting to learn if he ever fit into a normal school environment, or held a job, how he got all those guns, or if he ever fit into any situation normal for his age. And what sort of mental evaluations he might have had in the past, or drugs prescribed.
