WEST HARTFORD — People from Connecticut and across the country reacted on social media over the weekend to a local Dunkin' Donuts worker's comment with a West Hartford police officer waiting in line that the store wouldn't serve police officers.

Dozens tweeted the accounts of the local Connecticut Dunkin' Donuts franchise group and the national Dunkin' Donuts headquarters, many users calling for a boycott of the company and for the employee, who police said told the officer, "We don't serve cops here," to be fired.

Both accounts answered with the same response: "We are aware, Dunkin' Donuts & our franchisees share a commitment to the well-being & fair treatment of all of guests. The crew member exhibited poor judgement & the franchisee has apologized to the police officer on behalf of Dunkin' Donuts."

Connecticut State Police tweeted support for the franchise on Sunday.

"Despite the actions of 1, we know our friends @DunkinDonuts support us," the state police account posted....

I posted one earlier that happened in a Rhode Island Dunkin' Donuts. Funny, neither story gives us any details on the offending employees. Hmmmmm.

If I was a regular patron of DD, I would boycott.

That employee should have been fired.

Anything less is condoning its actions.

IMHO.

Sure they do. They tell us she’s female. (Or, I suppose these days, it could mean that she identifies as such).

It does sound like the manager was on top of things, running to the parking lot to apologize, making the employee apologize, and making the employee apologize to the other customers.

As to the employee, firing her might be raciss.

They were not fired?

Add DD to my list along with Macy’s don’t forget to stay out of their stores also, for supporting criminal illegal aliens.

If the left thinks police are so bad, why do they want to take guns from citizens?

Bwahahaaaahaa... You just cant make this stuff up! Only a liberal would work for a dough nut shop and refuse to sell to cops. We all knew that progressives are suicidal but even I didn't know that it had gone this far!

For those who see it as them against us, I’m lining up with US. I’m sick of deranged anti American leftist racists and their tactics.

Screw DD I will never spend another penny there until these people are fired.

If they refused to serve a homo, they would be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and put out of business. Why should this franchise location not suffer the same result?

Unfortunately, an apology from the person who said this is worthless.

Anything less than firing them is of no value.

When I was “between jobs” I worked at a convenience store and when the cops would come in, they always got a coffee or a soda fountain drink for free.
We encouraged them to be there, Lord knows there are bad guys that were always ready to rob us, so having the cops around was a good thing.

I’m aware one doesn’t have to be a whiz kid to work in a donut store, but what would possess such a person to treat a police officer so rudely?

EXACTLY. In fact, this is just an outgrowth of that movement, one that has encouraged outright hostility to the police (including several officers shot already).
