My master’s is in psychology. Since I had small kids I could never go on to get licensing since you have to collect full time hours for two straight years and I didn’t believe in leaving my kids that long. I have no regrets but now my resume goes to the bottom of the pile for ANY job because I haven’t worked in so long.
Maybe you are hitting the “over qualified” wall.
Employers often do not hire someone way over qualified because of the potential for disgruntlement from being hired at a lower rate and the possibility of the over qualifier not staying long as soon as a better gig comes along.
Another of those Laws of the Jungle.
It will boil down to someone who knows you and is willing to give you a chance. Get out and meet people in your field, broaden your exposure.
