Its early fall, and Im at my favorite cafe in London. What the? Twitters a cemetery. Populated by ghosts. I call them the ists. Journalists retweeting journalists activists retweeting activists economists retweeting economists once in a while a great war breaks out between this group of ists and that but the thing is: no ones listening because everyone else seems to have left in a hurry.
. Abuse is killing the social web, and hence it isnt peripheral to internet business models its central. It has significant chilling effects: given a tipping point, people will simply stop using a network, and walk away
and that appears to be whats happening with Twitter. Abuse is just as central to tech that connects people as selling beef that isnt contaminated with salmonella is to an industry that feeds people. For the simple fact is that no one wants to spend their life being shouted at by people theyll never meet who are angry not at them but at the world for things they barely even said to people they barely even know.

I use Twitter for work and it’s basically Dead Valley to a large degree.
Wouldn’t be the first time a social media type died out. Anybody still use my space???
Just because of refrigeration ping.
Oh, crap.. I sent that to the wrong address.
Is Twitter in it’s way to becoming today’s MySpace?
where a only small number of people still use it. Something that defines and reduces your status with those more tech savvy.
is not personal
I've never twittered, tweeted or whoopdidoo'ed ... but I have FB'd and 2 days away clutters your page with kitty's and cheeeze recipes so deep .... you lose that one article you wanted to share.
And as I understand things ... FB is a dinosaur.
Too many people got into trouble, kicked out of the Olympics, lost their jobs, were attacked by the Thought Police because of innocent comments on twitter.
But they can’t die! they just can’t!!!
Where will I go to get my second by second updates on the bowel movements of strangers?
Life is so unfair. Damn you world with such disappointment in it...
Good. I always thought twitter was a waste of time.
It’s only useful for quips and posting URLS with little to no explanation.
Good. I hated the fact that something so stupid was ever a "thing."
Now if only Facebook would go away too.
What’s killing Twitter is the abuse by media outlets and bloggers to Tweet messages that are nothing more than a link to some article.
Tweeters should be required to say something of substance in their messages. If you’re linking to a blog or news article, at least include the entire headline so I can decide if it’s something I want to read or if it’s something I already read somewhere else.
If I wanted links, I’d go to Yahoo.com. A lot of the links are just clickbait, anyway.
See tagline.
And something will eventually replace FB. That is why investing in these companies is rife with risk.
I’m looking forward to FarceBook going the way of the dinosaurs. I made the mistake of using a FB account to defend a small businessman against the VegaNazis and was summarily booted.
Not everybody is bright enough to use the mute or block buttons.
As i heard it explained on the Walton and Johnson radio show, facebook is dying, because it was considered ‘cool’, until all the grandads and grandmas started using it.
The last social media outlet i used was AmericaOnline, and that was before the turn of the millenium.
Some friendless little snowflake got mobbed, abused, shoved, and attacked all while sitting alone at Dairy Queen in the booth in the back. Quelle tragic. And that spells the end of Twitter.
Good. I hated the fact that something so stupid was ever a “thing.”
Now if only Facebook would go away too.

To be replaced by the next social media latest greatest.
social media apps might go away, but social media is here to stay.
I use FB as a mini FR .... people that would nerver get involved with politics will read and comment on selected articles
