She finds him boring, unappealing and does not like how he talks - Cruz is my second choice behind Trump.

I find almost everything Cruz says interesting. When Trump speaks I find long stretches where what he says is boring.

It is the result of steady efforts by the media, using all the rhetorical tricks of manipulation that the left has been honing since the early 1800’s.

Ted Cruz as President would actually roll back some leftist advances - they recognize that he is their greatest threat.

Yep. And "the ladies" loved Clinton.

This is one lady who loves Cruz. It is also one lady who believes that this country would be in a much better place if only men were allowed to vote.

Speech wise? As a Trump supporter I agree with you. But I am a politics geek and well informed (I like to think so) and I think you are also. So I have to discount my views when analyzing what everyday casual observers are experiencing.

Again, the feedback I got is Cruz's speech style is that of a lawyer addressing a jury pool. Turn off. Trump sounds like the guy you hang out at work with - but he is a successful business man who can back up what he says with a history of success that made him billions.

But you are willing to waste your vote on a guy whose apparent solution is "better lives through better government"?

I will ONLY vote for "better lives through less government" because now, I only vote for what I want to win. See my tagline.

There are a few here and there but the largest support currently is for Trump, the non-politician.

Which is why I ask how Carson could be doing so well in the polls?

I see few people supporting him.

Something isn't right.

Why are you pitting Cruz against Trump? Give Trump four years (can anyone really imagine Trump doing eight) and let him do the things he's best at. Trump is a person who knows how to succeed, and wants other people to have the same opportunities. He'll do what the country needs to survive.

I really believe with Trump and his ego, it'll be about saving the US, being the best President the US ever had. So let's get out of the mosh pit and let Trump have four years to unravel the DC mess!

PS: You Cruz supporters get on my nerves sometimes. And I'm one of the first people who gave a small donation to Cruz's candidacy.

Two very real reasons.

First, the media has painted Cruz as an out-of-control bomb-thrower who even his own party hates.

People who only get their information from the mainstream media believe this.

Second, Carson is a blank slate that people can imagine to be exactly the way they want.

As more and more of his views are known, more people will become disillusioned with him.

But for now, a lot of people don’t like Cruz because he is “mean”, and a lot of people like Carson because they think he will hold views they will like.

Seriously, I think Carson is better then Trump for social conservatives because of his stands and his humility before God, and the same people may think we need another minority to beat Hillary, also a vast amount of non conservative purity type political junkies not found here at freerepublic, think Ted Cruz is like Darth Vader, when in all actuality he is a really nice humble fellow. (As much as one can be running for president.) And, they will see this in the up coming months.

If the USA has a parliamentary system I am sure Cruz would have been chosen by the party to lead it or he would be close second as the new guy.

You willfully ignore the reasons Cruz had and has for those positions. You want it to be linear -- you are confused.

American universities do a piss-poor job of cranking out qualified professionals in many fields. You seem to want to make it so American companies are restricted to hiring from that inferior workforce. I know Cruz doesn't put it that way, but I will because I've had way, way too many run-ins with embarrassingly incompetent "college grads" who are clearly inferior. If I was an employer, I'd be looking outside of the U.S., too.

[I think Carson is better then Trump for social conservatives because of his stands and his humility before God]

BEN CARSON - ON SOCIAL ISSUES (DISTURBING)
Carson has expressed support for same-sex civil unions, and following the Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states, he conceded the fight was over by declaring the ruling the “law of the land.” (Newsmax)

Despite maintaining a strong pro-life record, in a 1992 interview, Dr. Carson said that while he does not perform abortions, he personally referred women seeking abortions to other doctors. In the same interview, he said that he “would never advocate it’s illegal for a person to get an abortion.” (Baltimore Sun)

Dr. Carson co-authored a medical research paper in 1992 where he outlined his support for the use of aborted baby organs for research purposes. Carson defended his past statements, saying, “To not use the tissue that is in a tissue bank, regardless of where it comes from, would be foolish. Why would anybody not do that?” Numerous

conservatives have expressed that by providing the demand that abortion providers will supply the market and that participating in this practice is being complicit. (Life Site News)

As revelations came to light about Dr. Carson referring the mothers of unborn children with potential birth defects to abortionists, his campaign defended the practice. A campaign spokesman said, “he [Carson] believes in quality medical care, No. 1, and secondly, he believes in people making their own decisions based on facts and information.” Pressed on whether Carson stands by his decision to do so, the same spokesman said yes. The statement is particularly troubling given that pro-abortion proponents use similar language regarding a decision between the patient and their doctor, but not mentioning the life of the child. (Politico)

Since news surfaced of a 1992 research paper co-authored by Dr. Carson that included the use of fetal tissue, Caron’s stance on abortion has come under immense scrutiny and his defense of his previous medical decisions has been troubling to many in the pro-life movement. When asked if Carson stands by his past decision to refer patients to abortion doctors, Carson’s Communications Director said “He believes in quality medical care, No. 1, and secondly, he believes in people making their own decisions based on facts and information.”Additionally, the spokesman went on to say that Carson believes that you can’t stop abortion by making it illegal. The spokesman told Politico, “he [Carson] has always believed that the battle over abortion had to be waged in the hearts and minds of Americans, that you cannot legislate morality. But he also believes we’re winning the debate.” (Politico)

In the 1990s, Carson was a board member of the Baltimore Charitable Foundation which gave $200,000 in grants to Planned Parenthood. When confronted with this fact, and asked if Carson knew about the grants a spokesman said, “it doesn’t really matter.” (Politico)

When asked if he would support abortion in the case of incest or rape, Dr. Carson said, “I would hope that they would very quickly avail themselves of the emergency room, and in the emergency room, they have the ability to administer RU-486 and other possibilities before you have a developing fetus.” RU-486 is an abortifacient that kills a fertilized egg by artificially denying it the ability to attach to the uterine wall. Using Dr. Carson’s own standard of life beginning at conception, this would then constitute murder. (Politico)

During the campaign Dr. Carson has struggled to define when he believes life begins. He told ABC News that life begins “when the heart starts beating” but later clarified that he meant conception. (Politico)

Maybe his success is based on that old saying - “People hear what they want to hear”.

Since he talks so softly, there could be many voters who just can’t hear him, and so ....

Not to be smug, but we FReepers are usually better informed than the general public at large, we KNOW all the candidates positions on everything and support them according to our own beliefs.

Carson is popular among many republicans and democrats alike.

He's a nice guy, that's why people like him. But when you get down to his core beliefs, he lacks proper judgment and discernment.
