I haven't done a quick vanity screed in ages, not as a singluar post, but something set me off today.
Donald Trump claims now that he will close some mosques in the United States if they are ISIL related.
"Varney asked Trump if he agreed with British Prime Minister David Cameron’s recent proposal to close mosques if a worshiper is linked to ISIS. Trump responded unequivocally, “Absolutely, I think it’s great.” Varney, apparently taken aback by Trump’s flippant response to depriving Americans of their constitutional rights, followed up incredulously, “Can you close a mosque?” Adding, “We do have religious freedom.” Trump then gave us this gem: “It depends. What Trump actually said is drawing contests are stupid and there are better things that can be done. Closing down an extremist mosque is better than doing a drawing contest. This is how he feels and it is his freedom of speech to feel this way. Educate yourself.
Trump is a moron. The mere fact of his popularity is an indictment of those that have embraced this fool as some sort of leader.

Considering every other candidate gets damaged after being pushed into similar situations regarding Trump comments, Trump was smart to take a pass.

Perry and Walker imploded. Like Jeb, not one of these fellows was dissed so badly that he was forced to leave the race. They ran lousy campaigns or were lousy candidates.
I don’t agree with everything Trump says. I don’t agree with his comments about Pam who not only is a brave woman, she’s a nice one. Doubt me? Send her an email! But I don’t believe Trump could ever be worse than Hillary or Obama.

The attack on Pam Geller and co. was supposed to be the “NEW AND IMPROVED” version of the “spontaneous” lie.
It was supposed to be the terrorist were picking up “hate speech” from “right wing extremist” news/talk radio/web sites and planning their attacks in a relatively short period of time, just a few days, on what was being discussed in right wing news.
Once it was established that the terrorist were basing their attacks on “right wing news/hate speech” they would then claim the terrorist at Benghazi had picked up on the “right wing extremist hate speech” comparing Obama to Peanuts Carter and planned the attack in just a few days to mimic the Iranian hostage crisis with Carter.
That’s why the SPLC and DoJ teamed up to come out with a report the “right wing extremist” are the real terrorist we need to be watching out for.
The deck was stacked against those two - Perry by endless comparisons to his previous run, Walker by the same endless repetitions of Wis Dem talking points, aka lies. Neither had the money to compete, but they still would have made better leaders than any in the remaining bunch.
Beliefs have little to do with reality and are best left in the realm of religion. Trump is worse because he is a fake - both Obama and Hillary are very clear about who they are - Obama was upfront before he was elected about what his agenda would be, Hillary is just in it for herself.

It is never particularly nice to belittle people's faith. That said, in this case the point was to show that she/we/us are not afraid to do so - and therefore protect the right of free speech.
Think of it this way, if everyone drew a cartoon of the prophet Muhammad and did it in a public way the issue would fade. Muslims would know that we all have a right to do something that they perceive insults them, just as they have a right to post anti Christian/anti Western propaganda. The ones that go bonkers over this stuff would bitch and moan for a few days but with all of us standing together, there is just not much they could do - they'd simply have to accept that free people have a right to draw a cartoon no matter how offensive it is. They couldn't target everyone for death over it since there would be too many people participating.
It should not be a matter of one or two brave people making the point and putting their lives on the line, it should be all of us standing together collectively and saying "no, we aren't afraid of your tantrums. We'll draw a cartoon lampooning your religion because we have a right to do just that. Stop threatening to kill people who do it and almost no one would bother or even think to draw these cartoons".
I don't think Trump really understands the issue and the reason why Geller and some others think it is important to demonstrate that we aren't going to be held hostage by a bunch of death threats generated by drawing a cartoon.
Trump says WAY too much. He’s all over the map and shoots from the lip.
I loved the way he slapped down the left instead of constantly turning the other cheek, but now he just comes across as unstable.

Perry was a disaster as always and Walker, unfortunately, proved to be more of a regional candidate than a national one.

He is not proposing a national “draw mohammed” contest like Pamela did to make her point. Trump was asked and answered. He thought she was reckless and provocative, and said so.
No rational US president would encourage any citizen to instigate violence to make their point, whether it is Geller or the KKK or black lives matter
