How about this:
It isn't anyone's business what I do or don't have. If the assumption I have more than I do keeps miscreants of all stripes at bay, great. OTOH, why entice those who might decide to take my stuff (over my dead body, of course)? What gain is there in that?

A: One.
If you don't understand that there are things in life that need not be broadcast, YOU are the one who doesn't get it.
