Why do many, even conservatives, refer to the Islamic State and its allied Islamic terror groups as "radical" or "extremist?"

I don't.
As a matter of fact on FR, I call them 'Fundamentalists",people who follow their religion as written in the Koran and Hadiths. -Tom
