I'm thinking, what a circus that would be! From the very first stages of jury selection, through the rest of the process, to the final verdict... it would take over the airwaves.

Agreed, but what’s on the airwaves would be above surface.
The left and Clintons in particular work very well below the surface where all the slime typically accumulates. Imagine the jury tampering, evidence going missing, witnesses either missing or changing their stories.
The meaning of a fair trial used to be being fair to the accused. Now days I think it applies to the people. As in “The People vs Hillary”. Justice is not fair if the people cannot prosecute those that harm them. Even with Trump as pres, there could be no fair trial.
