I wonder if the reason for New York ranking very low in number of divorces could be because people choose not to get married in the first place and just live together, instead?
It’s a strange thing but well-heeled liberals in northeast cities like New York often lead boring, conservative lives. I don’t know any liberal couples who have been married multiple times except one. Of course, they support no-fault divorce, abortion, gay rights, etc., but it is for others (most specifically, the poor and uneducated) not for them. Weird.

Actually it’s because 80% of the people in New York now are immigrants, and immigrants (from just about anywhere) do much better than Americans at staying married.
