If the test is who is going to assemble a team to pull us out of the big “ R” or worse the big “D” that obama is going to leave, then Trump is leagues ahead of anyone

Without a functioning economy, kiss all other national priorities good bye
Healthcare rescue - nada
National defense - crippled
Foreign relations - no more checks to cash
Abortion - more people too desperately poor to have their babies
Immigration - an open sewer line

And It’s looking like tptb are not going to be able to keep the wheels on the wagon until after obama leaves offuce

then Trump is leagues ahead of anyone

I share your pessimism respecting the economy, indeed, I am on record here some time ago arguing that a recession might well occur for the election citing declining numbers, especially in China. I share your view that if that occurs Trump will be the beneficiary. But I depart with you radically from the notion that Trump can put together "a team to pull us out of the big "R" or worse the big "D."'

I see nothing in Trump's biography which indicates he learned much of anything at the Wharton School Of Economics except how to make money with other people's money, especially the taxpayers money, in short how to engage in crony capitalism. There is no indication that Trump has a realistic apprehension of regulatory policy or a coherent tax policy. To the degree that any problems are generated by bad trade deals, those trade deals are not "bad" because they are negotiated by "incompetents" but because of the ideological commitment of the Democrats and rinos who quite knowingly negotiated what they wanted. Trump talks about competence because he fears us examining his ideology across the board.

As for "healthcare rescue" I see nothing in his biography that inspires any confidence whatsoever that he will rescue us from that problem, his public statements include admiration for single-payer. That is just one more example of Trump's love of big government. I know many in this forum think the issue is settled because Trump allowed as how he would replace Obama care with something "terrific." I suppose he will assemble a "terrific" team to do so?

As for "national defense" I hardly have confidence that the man who doesn't know what the triad is is the fella to turn to to make the critical decisions which will permit us to survive in the brave new world of war in space, cyberspace waged with computers, drones, lasers and satellites.

As for "foreign relations" Trump properly wants to keep us out of ground wars in the Mideast but he fails to recognize that there are two threats, one comes from Russia, possessed of nuclear arms and the capacity to deliver them by missile to the United States, allied with a caliphate running from Iran ( soon to have the atomic bomb and missiles with which to deliver it) to Syria, including Iraq in between, and granting the Russian Navy sees on which to play from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. Meanwhile Russia's Air Force is already in Syria and they have threatened to put 150,000 boots on the ground. They are creating incidents in the Baltic, over Scotland, near Iceland, near Canada, and just today once more in Turkey. Trump simply doesn't get it.

As for "Abortion" Trump at best is a Johnny-come-lately to his antiabortion stance and he has lied about everything else that he is ever done in life so I am not about to place confidence in his abortion epiphany.

As for "immigration" Trump's policy here is as incoherent as is his policy on healthcare, he talks a big game but the particulars are chaotic. He unrealistically says he can deport 11 million people (the actual number probably approaches 30 million) but having achieved this impossible task he would then re-admit the "terrific" illegal immigrants. Trump is bellicose but not coherent.

Give me a candidate whose default position is the conservative position rather than a candidate whose contrived position panders to the desperation of a sorely put upon people.

If a crash comes those who drink the Kool-Aid now will be hardly willing to listen to reason they will thirst more than ever for a Messiah.
